In what is hopefully the second piece of good news tonight, the Guardian reports a trial of a drug that seems to be effective against Huntington's Disease . IONIS-HTTRx blocks the RNA that the Huntington's gene produces. No RNA means no nerve-killing protein. This aborts the brain damage that the Huntington's gene causes in susceptible people.
Roche will take this drug to market.
So finally a real ray of hope for Huntington's. Go science. Support science. Vote to fund science.
